IIN brought traditional German breweries to Japan and designed a beer restaurant called SCHMATZ. The iron bar is located inside a metal corrugated container, and its appearance has an industrial aesthetic effect. After entering, the guest is greeted by a warm room with soft lighting. Passengers will enter a surprising and comfortable container.
IIN wraps customers in a warm atmosphere through the use of wood on the ground and walls. The texture of the wood is also linked to the traditional German style beer hall, and black and brass colors appropriately offset this warm atmosphere, bringing a more modern feel to the space. The large neon lights in the shape of hot dogs decorate the walls, adding a sense of fun to the space.
The design inspiration for SCHMATZ comes from the environment of the Tokyo Dome gym, where the bar is located near the famous baseball stadium. With this in mind, the designer's vision for the bar is to blend in with the sports and fashionable atmosphere of the area. The bar is located close to the arena and serves as an authentic beer field and delicious food for fans after watching games.
