The floating house is a lakeside residence designed for the long summer in Latvia. The first floor of the two-story building is the living space, bathroom, and a small platform, while the second floor is the bedroom area. The walls and roof are made of the same material, achieving a harmonious appearance. In the underground level of residential buildings based on floating bridges, clean fresh water is stored, and recyclable water and fuel tanks are filtered.
The design requires the use of a wooden material for the walls and roof, giving the built house a modern and unified appearance, as if the entire building was cut from a single piece of wood. Our inspiration comes from the dilapidated fishing huts along the Baltic port coast of Pavilosta, Latvia in the past. Compared to being built directly on land, this modern building should be built on water and connected to the dock. This makes it easier for residential properties to be towed towards other docks, or gathered into a floating community if needed.
